AI-Resilient Quantitative Problem Sets

Updated on

Before AI-Resilient Design

Instructions: Complete the following 10 question problem set in order to practice linear regression and data interpretation.

After Redesign

  1. Solve: Complete the 10-question problem set to practice applying linear regression and interpreting data.

  2. Explain your thinking. Choose 3 problems and create a short screen recording in which you explain your solution as though you were teaching the problem to a classmate who is a few weeks behind you in the course. Walk through key steps in your problem-solving process, explain what the results means in context of the problem. Identity potential pitfalls and misconceptions. If there are other approaches to solve the problem, explain why you chose the one you did.

How did the design improve?

  • Makes thinking and process visible: Students must create a video or screen recording showing how they solved the problems, showing their reasoning. While students could have an AI chatbot walk them through this before doing their recording, they still are likely to learn because of having to process and explain it to another audience.

  • Encourages reflection and metacognition since students discuss areas of confusion and how to avoid them in order to gain more awareness of their own learning process.
