Is the instructor of record in listed in Courses@Brown?

Contact the instructor.

Although some departments do officially add TA enrollments into Banner, most TAs are manually added to course sites by the instructor of record.  Contact the instructor of the course for which you are a TA and request that they add you to the course site with the TA or Undergraduate TA role as appropriate.

Contact the instructor (if known) or the departmental course offering builder.

The person who is listed as the instructor of record in Courses@Brown will be able to request the Canvas course site and add TA enrollments.  If the instructor is not listed, contact the person who is expected to teach the course and/or the departmental course offering builder so that they can officially assign the instructor.  Once the instructor is officially added, within 24 hours they should be listed in Courses@Brown and should be able to request the Canvas site for the course and add TA users to the Canvas site.

NOTE:  In Courses@Brown, courses that do not have an instructor assigned yet will display "TBD" as the instructor [1].

Contact the instructor (if known) or the departmental course offering builder.

Courses for each semester will be listed in Courses@Brown.  If the course is being offered for a semester, it will first appear in Courses@Brown before an instructor can request a Canvas site.  If the course you are supporting is not listed in Courses@Brown, contact the instructor (if known) or the departmental course offering builder to ensure that the course is being offered for the current term.

When you search Courses@Brown, make sure you enter your search criteria/keyword in the search box [1] and have selected the correct term from the term drop down menu[2].  If you are looking for an independent study or research course, you will also need to select the option to include those courses [3].

Did you add the course to your Primary Cart and wait at least 5-10 minutes?

Are there any errors on your enrollment

(e.g. you have not  completed the required prerequisites;  the course requires instructor approval or instructor override)

Address the enrollment errors.

Check the course description regarding any prerequisites or other requirements for enrollment for the course.

The most comment issue students experience is that the course requires instructor permission or n instructor override.  When a course you want to register for has this requirement, you can request an instructor override through Courses@Brown.

Remember that an approved override does not enroll you in the course!  You still need to register for the course after the instructor has processed the override or sent you an override code.

If you are still having issues using Courses@Brown to register for courses, please contact the registrar's office at [email protected].

There may be a technical issue with your enrollment.

Please contact the Sheridan Center's Digital Learning and Design team at [email protected] and let them know what course you are inquiring about.

Add the course to your Primary Cart and wait 5-10 minutes before checking Canvas.

When registering for courses, you must add the course you want to your Primary Cart.  You do have the ability to create multiple carts in Courses@Brown, but you will only be added to those courses added to your Primary cart.

For more information on how to use Courses@Brown for registration, please review the Registration in C@B help article.

NOTE:  During Shopping Period, you will be added to courses with a temporary role of Prospective Student.  When you officially enroll in a course, your role will be changed to Student.  At the end of Shopping Period, remaining Prospective Student enrollments will be removed from courses for which you did not register but remain in your Primary Cart.

Students cannot register for courses that are not being offered.

If a course is not listed in the Courses @ Brown, you will not be able to register for it.  If you believe this is an error, contact the instructor (if known) or the department to inquire about the course.

Please contact the OIT Help Desk for Brown ID login support.
